ABOUT
Faux Fiction
Annee Grøtte Viken (NO/BE) is a writer, artist and restoration architect that explore fiction as a tool for getting a deeper insight into the cultural and material realities of space and the potential it holds for repairing broken relationships.
Grøtte Viken looks to language and craftsmanship as agents of attention and dialogue and often develops works in close collaboration with others across disciplines and places, to help question how we relate to space and how spaces affect the way we relate to each other, and the world around us. With special attention to questions of belonging, consumption, growth, ecology and heritage.

‘I sit in a living room. I am listening to a conversation between two people. Their conversation does not make any sense to me. Yet I listen. It seems to take place somewhere else, somewhere I haven’t been. I try to trace the conversation. I try to write it down. The more I write, the less I am sure of where the sentences come from. It seems like they are no longer part of the conversation I am listening to. I realise the written words have become mine, that they no longer exist as spoken sound, and that they no longer belong to the person who uttered the words… I am no longer sitting in the living room.
